Summer Staff Registration

We have numerous positions available. Please read through the information below and download the appropriate form/s beneath.

Age

Stillwood is looking for people of all ages, single or married, to serve for a week, or for the entire summer. Counselors and Program Instructors are primarily young adults and college students. All positions (except the Counselor In Training programs and the Work Crew Program) require that you be at least 17 years of age (before Dec. 31 of the year of the camp applied for).

General Ministry Qualifications

  • must be a committed Christian, growing in your walk with God and displaying evidence of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22).
  • must have a strong sense of calling by God to camping ministry.
  • must demonstrate a servant attitude toward meeting the needs of the campers and the camp program.
  • must be recommended for ministry by your pastor.
  • must have a real love for children and youth.
  • must be a team player.

Summer Staff Positions Available

Leadership Positions

  • Assistant Program Director - to assist in planning, organizing, coordinating, and leading the summer and day camp programs.
  • Head Counselors (two female and two male) - to be support persons and peer leaders of the counseling and program staff. These persons will not be in a cabin group. Prior counseling experience is a necessity.

Senior Staff Positions

  • Day Camp Coordinator - to organize and integrate the day campers into the residential camping program.
  • Land Activity Coordinator - to oversee the safety and operation of all daily land activities.
  • Assistant Land Activity Coordinator - to assist the Land Activity Coordinator in running the daily land activities.
  • Waterfront Coordinator - responsible for the waterfront and swimming programs. Will oversee lifeguards, and maintain pool and equipment. Must have minimum NLS.
  • Assistant Waterfront Coordinator - to be a support to the Waterfront Coordinator. Must be a qualified lifeguard.
  • Special Events Coordinators (2) - to plan, organize, coordinate and lead the camp’s special activities including thematic weeks, wide games, skits, pool parties, etc.
  • Counsellor-In-Training Coordinator (one male and one female) - responsible for implementing and leading the Counselor-In-Training (C.I.T.) Program.
  • Work Crew Coordinator (one male and one female) - responsible for organizing devotions and overall leadership to the Work Crew Program.
  • AM/PM Kitchen Leaders (2) – responsible for leading the crew that works in the kitchen.
  • AM/PM Housekeeping Leader (1) - responsible for leading the crew that works in housekeeping.
  • Dining Hall Coordinator – to be a support to the kitchen by overseeing the dish crew and the dining hall crew.
  • Chapel Coordinator – to plan, organize, and coordinate all aspects of chapel and campfire times.

Counselling and Counselor Training Positions

  • Counselor (ages 18 years +) – to be responsible for a cabin group of 10 campers per week, together with another staff member. This may include our Residential Camp or our Day Camp Program. To ensure health, safety and acceptance of each camper in his/her cabin group; lead devotions, create one-on-one times to invite campers to faith in Christ and to disciple them in their faith; plan activities with cabin group and lead or assist in instructing an activity skill. Experienced counselors may apply to be Unit Leaders as well. They will assist the Head Counselors and provide peer leadership of the counseling and program staff.
  • Junior Counselor (ages 17 years +) – this program provides advanced theoretical and practical training in the areas of leadership, discipleship, counseling, and program development. Junior counselors are integral to our staff team and serve as counselors, program staff, and support staff. Due to the material covered during staff training, we require that you attend as much as possible.
  • Day Camp Workers (ages 17 years +) – If you are only able to come for part of the summer, consider coming to work with our Day Camps. This program offers children ages 5 –7 an opportunity to come and experience camp. Day Camps run from August 2 – 20.
  • C.I.T. (Counselor-in-Training) (ages 16 & 17) – this is a leadership training program in the areas of counseling and program. C.I.T.s will spend a total of six weeks at camp, including one and a half weeks in a cabin and one week with Day Camp. Participants will be challenged spiritually, as they build relational skills with children. The cost is $275 and requires a six and one half-week commitment. (July 2 – August 20, with a staff break July 28 – 31.) This cost also includes a first aid course and a counseling book.

Support Staff Positions

  • Work Crew (ages 14 years +) - to work primarily with the kitchen and maintenance departments, preparing food, washing dishes, cleaning washrooms, etc. It isn’t glamorous but it is needed! Duties will vary week to week, and will take about 6 – 8 hours per day with the morning shift starting at 6 a.m. The remainder of your day will be filled with Work Crew activities, basic leadership training, discipleship and a lot of fun! The Work Crew will have limited interaction with the campers. A three and a half week commitment is required for both sessions.
  • Video Crew (ages 18 years +) - responsible for filming, editing and promoting the weekly camp video and compiling a summer-long staff video.
  • Nurse/Doctor - a nurse or doctor is required for every camp. Must be a qualified RN or LPN. Basic First Aid or OFA 1, 2 or 3 is an asset.
  • Kitchen Staff (ages 18 years +) - to assist the permanent kitchen staff.
  • Bus Drivers - responsible for safe operation of buses and some bus maintenance. Must have a perfect driver's abstract and a Class One or Two license.
  • Mechanic - responsible for all vehicles, buses and boats during the summer.
  • Prayer Warriors - we need people to commit themselves to praying for the camp this summer. Pray for strength and unity, that God’s Spirit would have free reign this summer, and that many campers would come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Activity Specialist Positions (18 years +)

Support Staff that focus on one specific activity and are responsible for equipment maintenance, instructing others, and developing the program.

  • Sailing - responsible for the sailing program.
  • Lifeguards - must have Bronze Cross min. and be 17 years +.
  • Small Boats Program - responsible for the canoeing and kayaking programs.
  • Crafts - responsible for the planning and coordination of the summer crafts program.
  • Drama - responsible for the planning and supervision of all drama-related activities.
  • Wall Climbing - responsible for leading and supervising all wall climbing.
  • Power Boat Drivers - responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the power boats. Prior experience preferred.
  • Archery - responsible for leading and supervision of the archery program.
  • Challenge Course - responsible for leading and supervising all ropes courses and/or zip lines. To sign up, e-mail program@stillwood.ca
