Summer Staff Application Information

We have numerous positions available. Please read through the information below and download the appropriate form/s beneath.

Age

Stillwood is looking for people of all ages, single or married, to serve for a week, or for the entire summer. Counselors and Program Instructors are primarily young adults and college students. All positions (except the Counselor In Training programs and the Work Crew Program) require that you be at least 17 years of age (before Dec. 31 of the year of the camp applied for).

General Ministry Qualifications

  • must be a committed Christian, growing in your walk with God and displaying evidence of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22).
  • must have a strong sense of calling by God to camping ministry.
  • must demonstrate a servant attitude toward meeting the needs of the campers and the camp program.
  • must be recommended for ministry by your pastor.
  • must have a real love for children and youth.
  • must be a team player.

Leadership Positions

  • Assistant Program Director:
    To assist in planning, organizing, coordinating and leading the summer and day camps programs.
  • Head Counselors (Two Male; Two Female):
    These four will not be in a cabin with campers, but rather will work with the staff to be a support person and peer leader of the counseling and program staff. To provide support to counselors with difficult camper situations. Prior counseling experience is a necessity.

Senior Staff Positions (Must be 19+, with prior camp experience)

  • Day Camps Director:
    To oversee and coordinate the day camps program and to train the day camp staff to work alongside them, leading by example.
  • Land Activities Director:
    To oversee the safety and operations of all daily land activities.
  • Assistant Land Activities Director:
    To assist the Land Activities Director in overseeing the safety and operations of all daily land activities.
  • Waterfront Director:
    To oversee the entirety of the waterfront and swimming programs. Will oversee lifeguards, maintain pool, and equipment. Must have NLS and class 5 driver’s license.
  • Assistant Waterfront Director:
    To assist the Waterfront Director in overseeing the waterfront and swimming programs. Must have NLS and class 5 driver’s license.
  • Fun Coordinators (2):
    To plan, organize, coordinate, and lead the camp’s special activities including: thematic weeks, wide games, skits, pool parties, etc.
  • Counselor In Training Director (One male; One female):
    To implement and lead the Counselor in Training (CIT) program, training the future counselors of Stillwood.
  • Work Crew Directors (One male; One female):
    To provide overall leadership to the Work Crew program, leading by example. Responsibilities will include scheduling, creating devotions, and working alongside your crew.
  • Chapel Coordinator:
    To engage the camp actively in worship daily. Responsible for overseeing and planning morning chapels and evening campfires as well as leading teams of musicians, and being a liaison between the weekly speakers and the rest of the camp staff.
  • Beyond Boundaries Director:
    To oversee the Beyond Boundaries program, which allows children on the autistic spectrum to participate in camp program to the fullest of their abilities.
  • Beyond Boundaries Assistant Director:
    To assist in facilitation the above-mentioned Beyond Boundaries program.

Counseling and Counselor Training Positions

  • Senior Counselor (18+):
    With the help of a junior counselor, to be responsible for a cabin group of ten campers each week. To ensure health, safety, and acceptance of all campers; to lead devotions; create one-on-one times with campers to invite them to come to faith in Christ and to disciple them in their faith; to plan activities with the cabin group and lead or assist in leading an activity skill.
    (Experienced Counselors may apply to be Unit Leaders who will assist the Head Counselors in providing peer leadership to the counseling staff).
  • Junior Counselor (17+):
    To assist the senior counselor in overseeing a cabin of 10 campers per week. Junior counselors are an integral part of our staff team, and function as counselors, program, and support staff. As this position requires a lot of training, we will require you to attend as much of staff training as possible.
  •  Day Camps Counselor (17+):
    If you are only able to come for part of the summer, consider coming to work with our Day Camps. This program allows children aged 5-7 to experience camp. This year’s dates are July 9-20th.
  • Counselor in Training (CIT) (ages 16 &17):
    This is a leadership training program for students going into grades 11 and 12. CIT’s will spend a total of 6 weeks at camp, including one and a half weeks in a cabin. Participants will be challenged spiritually as they build relational skills with children. The cost is $275 (which covers First Aid training and a book study), and requires a six and a half week commitment (June 28-August 17th).

Support Staff Positions (ages 14+)

  • AM/PM Kitchen Work Crew Leader (2 positions; 17+):
    Responsible for leading the crew that works in the kitchen.
  • AM/PM Housekeeping Leader (2 positions, 19+):
    Responsible for leading the crew who works in housekeeping.
  • Utilities Crew Leader (17+):
    Works alongside the maintenance supervisor, leading the outdoor maintenance crew.
  • Dining Hall Coordinator (19+):
    To be a support to the kitchen by overseeing the dish crew and the dining hall crew.
  • Work Crew (28 positions; 14+):
    To work with the kitchen, housekeeping and maintenance departments preparing food, washing dishes, cleaning washrooms, etc, for three and a half weeks. This is a great position for anyone who would like to get a taste of what it’s like to work at camp. It isn’t glamorous, but it’s needed! Duties will vary each week, with an average of 6 work hours per day. The remainder of your day will be spent with the rest of your “Crew” doing activities, basic leadership training, discipleship, and having a ton of fun! You must be able to commit fully to one of the two three-and-a-half-week sessions.
  • Video Crew (3 positions, 18+):
    To film, edit and promote the weekly camp video, and compile a summer-long staff video.
  • Lifeguards (4 positions, 18+):
    Must be NLS qualified and have experience life guarding.
  • Activities Instructors:
    To oversee a particular activity for the duration of the summer. This includes training staff on how to instruct, as well as being a point-person for that activity for the duration of the summer.
  • Nurse/Doctor:
    A qualified Nurse (LPN or RN) or Doctor is required for each camp. Basic First Aid, or OFA 1, 2, or 3 is an asset.
  • Kitchen Staff (18+):
    To assist the year-round kitchen staff.
  • Bus Drivers:
    To ensure safe operations of bus and perform some bus maintenance. Must have perfect driver’s abstract and current class one or two license.
  • Prayer Warrior:
    We need people to commit themselves to praying for camp this summer. Pray for strength, unity, and that God’s Spirit would have free reign, and that many campers would come to know Christ as their personal savior.
